Our First Community Fun Day Raised a Huge Amount

Eye Matter was delighted to have  26 members of all abilities for our Fun run, walk and dance around Hyde Park on Saturday 13th September.   Suzie Simons (Eye Matter’s Founder) said, “I felt so proud of how the day came together – full of community spirit, joyful movement, and genuine connection. The walk/run/dance around Hyde Park created such a fabulous, feel-good atmosphere, and it was so heart-warming to gather afterwards for a relaxed and friendly community picnic.”

This event was part of The Mayors Community Weekend 2025 celebrations (held 12-14th September)  across London in conjunction with the National lottery.  Suzie explained, ”we were incredibly grateful to the Mayor’s Team London Volunteers.  Their enthusiasm, guidance, and support made a real difference – from keeping everyone on the right track, to handing out water and fruit snacks, alongwith assisting with guiding some of our participants.”

Darren V left a voice note,  “Just wanted to say thank you for a wonderful day.  I thoroughly enjoyed the event and was pleased it was so well attended.  A big thanks to Suzie and her team.”

Rachel (Eye Matter’s Trustee) who attended with her guide dog Mackie said, “Well done to Suzie, Naomi and the team that put on such an amazing event in Hyde Park yesterday! Congratulations to all of the participants, it was a brilliant day and wonderful to meet Mike brace, our new patron and his guide dog King.”

Eye Matter was delighted that the sun kept shining for  members  to walked, run and  dance  around Hyde Park.   Everyone who took part  received  a commemorative medal before  joining in their celebratory picnic ahead of the rain making it’s unwelcome appearance.

A huge thanks to everyone who supported this event and to those who have contributed £1800 to our Just Giving page.
