April: King Rat by James Clavell 8.3/10

Set in Changi, the most notorious prisoner of war camp in Asia, King Rat is an heroic story of survival told by a master story-teller who lived through those years as a young soldier. Only one man in fifteen had the strength, the luck, and the cleverness simply to survive Changi.

March: Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl 6.5/10

The author learnt the extremities of suffering whilst in concentration camps. But he has used his experiences to find ways of healing sickness of mind and spirit. His technique of what he calls ‘logotherapy’ shows people can be set free from despair and find new courage to face circumstances which seem beyond them. He bases his therapy on man’s striving for a higher and ultimate meaning to his existence.

Feb: The Maid by Nita Prose  9.5/10

The maid is a who done it mystery.
The book is beautifully written and as an audio book, beautifully narrated.
Molly the maid, is portrayed as a very vulnerable innocent young  woman who gets caught up in murder and drug dealing.
There are many twists and turns throughout the story. Touching on mental health, violence and crime, holding the reader’s attention to the very end.
