I became involved with Eye Matter before it was established as a charity. I started by giving assistance to my next-door Neighbour where Eye Matter began at Edgware Community Hospital. Since then it has grown and Suzie is now running a much larger organisation but is still my Neighbour! I had volunteered before, but never with people with sight-loss, so it was all completely new to me and a new learning experience.
Generally I assist where a pair of almost functioning eyes are useful. Meeting and sharing experiences with people, who use our Service, continues to be a truly delightful opportunity which I access from my own home. Through facilitating our on-line (Zoom) events,several times a week, I am able to share laughter filled times with friends.
I suppose, at this point, I’m supposed to say “I enjoy “making a difference” but, I just feel that’s just a well worn cliché, although very true! Click the link below for more information about our opportunities:
